This is a follow-up to a bug report I submitted on May 23, 2009, titled "Under File (drop-down menu)-->Settings Tool-->Messaging, "Test" button causes program to hang/flicker (endless loop?)." Please read the May 23 bug report first for reference.
The same behavior--the program hangs/flickers (appears to be an endless loop)--occurs when I slide a window (such as a results window from a registry scan) over top of a jv16 PowerTools message window. For example, I used the Registry Cleaner to do a scan using the default settings. I had no problems during the scan (see "1 - OK During Scan.jpg") or right after then scan, when the Scan Report window appeared (see "2 - OK Right After Scan.jpg"). I then started to slide the Scan Report window down so I could read what was in the message box below the "Regisry Cleaner - Results" window. When the title bar of the Scan Report window was just below the title bar of the message window, information from the results window disappeared and the program hung and flickered constantly (see "3 - Flicker-Hang while sliding Scan Report box down (1st time).jpg"). I had to take photos of the screen while the program hung, as the printscreen function would not work. The program could only be stopped by killing the "jv16PT.exe" process in the Task Manager. I tried the same thing a second time (Registry Cleaner scan, then "Regisry Cleaner - Results" and "Scan Report" windows appeared). This time I was able to move the Scan Report window up and down/around a few times (see "4 - OK After Moving Scan Rpt Box Down & Up A Couple Times.jpg") before the program hung and flickered constantly (see "5 - Flicker-Hang while sliding Scan Report box up (2nd time).jpg"). I killed the "jv16PT.exe" process in the Task Manager and repeated the process (and problem) in debug mode. This time I left it alone after it started to hang/flicker, and after about 10 to 15 minutes it stopped flickering (similar to May 23 bug report) and I could move all of the windows around. But none of the buttons would respond, and none of the program windows could be closed by selecting the "X" in the upper right-hand corner (had to kill "jv16PT.exe").
Other programs could be run during the jv16 PowerTools problem, but will a small to moderate delay.
This computer has an Intel DP35DP motherboard with Core 2 Quad Processor Q6700, 2.66 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT video card with 512 MB DDR RAM.
Debug function log ("jv16PT_functionlog.html") has been attached as a zip file titled "Debug Function Log File.zip." Camera photos and screenshots referenced above have been attached as a zip file titled "Screenshots.zip." I did not try to upload the debug log file ("jv16PT_debuglog.html") because it is about 58 MB (I think because of may endless loop entries). Instead, I sent it to myself via YouSendIt; the "jv16PT_debuglog.html" file may be downloaded from the following YouSentIt web site link: <>.
