jv16 PowerTools 2008 - File Organizer

The File Organizer can group files with similar names into their own sub-directories.

For example, do you download a lot of files from the internet? If you do, your download directory is always a mess, hundreds of files in the same directory. Or, do you take digital photos? Have a big collection of music?

In such case, the File Organizer will save your day!

The tool uses jv16 PowerTools' advanced Artificial Intelligence engine to detect similarities between the given list of files. These similarities are then used to group the files together.

The Results

Of course, grouping files to their own sub-directories isn't an easy task for a computer, AI or not. Therefore the tool doesn't do anything on its own but rather generates a simple tree view of the directory structure it thinks would be the best.

The picture above shows how the File Organizer organized a directory with a few photos. After the tool is done you can freely move files from one sub-directory to another to finalize the job. When everything looks good, you can just click apply and the tool will create the directory structure and copy (or move) all the files to their corresponding new sub-directories.

Organizing large collections of files just doesn't get easier than this!
