jv16 PowerTools 2009 - Directory Finder |
The Directory Finder allows you to locate directories with an unprecedented degree of control. It is usually used to find empty folders, or directories which haven't been used in a long time.

The Directory Finder supports a staggering array of different search options. Here's a brief summary of all the search options you can use.
Search by search word
The most basic function, with it you can search with a search word, wildcards are also supported.
Search by size
You can find directories that contain a certain amount of data, or whose content size fits to a given range. Windows lacks such a feature and with it you'll be able to spot those hard to find folders which drag your available space down.
Search by contents
You can search for directories which contain a certain number of files and/or sub-directories, or directories which contain files of a certain size. As an example you could make a search for directories which contain up to 3 sub-directories and more than 100 files, with all the files above 10 MB
Search by date
You can also search for directories which have been created, last modified or last accessed during a defined time. This is great for finding old programs you installed ages ago and you no longer use, or to determine for troubleshooting purposes, the order in which you installed a number of programs on your computer
But the real power of the Directory Finder tool resides in the fact that you can freely combine these different search methods. For example, you can search with a search word "temp*" for all directories that contain at least 1 files and which haven't been used within the last 7 days.
