jv16 PowerTools 2009 - File Finder |
The File Finder allows you to search files with a very powerful range of search options. Howvere it is the wide range of tools available on the results page that will make this "the" way to search for files.

Here's a brief summary of all the search options you can use.
Search by search word
You can search with a search word, wildcards are also supported.
Search by size
You can search for files that are in a certain size range, for example files which are over 10 KB but smaller than 5 MB. A tidbit you will definitely love is the ability to search files that are around a given value
Search by date
You can find files which were created, last modified or last accessed within a certain number of years, months, days, hours, minutes or seconds. Of course you can also search for files created, modified or accessed on a certain day, before or after it.
Search by attribute
You can find files by their attribute. For example, you can search for hidden (Hidden attribute) files, which do not have the System attribute.
Search by contents
You can find files by their contents by defining content search words.
Search by owner
You can find files by their owner (NTFS only).
Remember that you can freely combine these different search methods. For example, you can quickly search for viruses that recently infected your computer: search with a search word "*.exe" for all files that are under 200 KB and which were created within the last 7 days by user "Administrator" and are hidden (Hidden attribute). Of course, this doesn't replace a good antivirus program, but if this search reveals any entries, you'll definitely know that there are problems
Features at a glance:
- Rich selection of different powerful search options
- Allows you to search from multiple sources, such as drives or folders, at a same time
- Can skip directories or files you don't wish to be listed, for example system files
- Can skip deep directory structures to speed up the search process
The Results
The results of the tool are listed using the powerful File Tool which offers a wide range of features you can perform on the found files.
