The Registry Monitor allows you to create snapshots of the current state of the registry and then compare it with another.

jv16 PowerTools - Registry Monitor

The comparison shows you all the changes that were made to the registry between the two snapshots. This information can then be used for example to undo the changes, or by developers to assess whether the software they make uninstalls properly.

The Registry Monitor's compare feature can detect the following registry changes.

Taking a snapshot

Creating a snapshot is a very easy and straightforward process, and doesn't take a very long time. The tool is flexible enough to either monitor the full registry or just some parts of it.

Registry Monitor Create Snapshot

Comparison

After you have created at least one snapshot you can compare it to the current state of the registry to see the list of all the made changes. The comparison in itself is a rather complicated process, but it all happens under the hood, so all that you have to do is wait a few minutes.

Registry Monitor Compare Snapshots

Notice that you can either list all the made changes or only the changes that match a search word or search words. This makes it a very convenient way to detect the changes made by just-installed new software.

The Results

The tool lists the detected changes in a simple list form. You can easily undo changes by selecting them and clicking the Change back button.
