History

Macecraft started in early 1998 as a hobby of a student called Jouni Vuorio. Right from the beginning the main focus was on computer maintenance and cleaning, the first program was a freeware tool called RegCleaner which was one of the very first registry cleaner applications in the World and the very first Windows Add/Remove Software independent software uninstaller.

RegCleaner gained enormous popularity and was featured in all the biggest computer magazines around the Globe. Yet, there was still need for more features and in 2001 the development of a full Windows cleaning and tuneup utility suite started. Originally called "Project X" the lightweight utility suite later became known as "jv16 PowerTools". The name originates from the developer's initials Jouni Vuorio and 16 was the age he started to develop RegCleaner (to which jv16 PowerTools was much based on). The jv16 PowerTools project also started as freeware.

Macecraft Software (Macecraft Inc.) was officially established in 2003 when the author converted jv16 PowerTools to shareware and continued the development as work instead of just a hobby.

We are an independent, non-affiliated software company whose products are based on years of development and continuous dialogue with our global user base. The company gets its funding from its product revenue and is not a publicly traded company.
