jv16 PowerTools 2008 - Registry Find and Replace |
The Registry Find and Replace tool allows you to find and replace data from the registry.

The feature is especially useful for fixing the registry after a changed hard drive letter. For example, you have purchased a new hard drive and you have moved your C:\Programs directory to D:\Programs. Of course, none of the programs actually work since the registry still contains the old path at C:\ drive. Fixing the program with the Registry Find and Replace takes only a few clicks: search for "C:\Programs" and replace it with "D:\Programs".
Main advantages over Windows RegEdit's search feature and other competitors
- Can search with many search words at a time
- Can find registry items based on their last modification date
- Supports searching with wildcards, Perl Regular Expressions and Artificial Intelligence
- Automatically creates a backup of all data you modify or remove, if you wish
The Results
The results of the registry search are shown in a simple list form which also shows the Before and After status.

At the time you see this screen absolutely no changes are yet made to the registry. This allows you to verify that all the found items are valid and you wish to apply the Find and Replace procedure on them. You can also remove items from the list.
